An 80-year old man buried alive, body exhumed. Eight arrested.


Meghalaya police arrested eight people into the suspected case of witch-hunt where Nongstoin police exhumed the body of an 80-year-old man who was recently buried alive by his relatives over the suspicion that he practiced witchcraft at a village in West Khasi Hills.


According to police, the body was found with hands and legs tied and face covered was exhumed on Monday from a 5-feet deep pit in the Mawliehbah Mawnar village.


The incident happened on October 7.


“The incident took place on October 7 and in connection with the case we have arrested eight people. We are investigating the case and sent the body for post mortem,” said a police officer.


Home minister Lakhmen Rynbui appealed to people not to take law into their own hands. He said “witch hunt” is not a new thing in Meghalaya last week it happened in West Khasi Hills side.


Police exhume the body of Moris Marngar after receiving the District Magistrate’s order.

WWI Russian Expeditionary Force in France From Russia to the Western Front. The Russian Expeditionary Force was a World War I military force sent to France by the Russian Empire. In 1915 the French requested that Russian troops be sent to fight alongside their own army on the Western Front.
