Sad indeed. I strongly suspect that the vessel imploded
At that depth—abt 13 KM deep—the pressure due to the weight of water is so intense. It's 400 times stronger than that at sea level. If it did implode, those fellows died a terrible death.
It could also be that it sunk in the mud. The Ocean floor is not only pitch dark but also terribly muddy and extremely cold. As a matter of fact, no known sea animal live there—not even the mighty whales reach this depth. So if it got lodged in the mud, it was a sad end as well. And they might never be found for all eternity.
The small submarine was tightened with 17 formidable bolts. So it is only openable from the outside and not from the inside. The mental torture that haunted those men is just unexplainable—they literally lived at a countdown into their inevitable end.
I especially pity the Pakistani man who had taken his 19 yr old son along with them. Imagine looking helplessly at your own son gasping for air, knowing well that you cannot help him out.
This is one of the most horrifying ordeals of the year! There are times in your life when riches cannot save you. Those billionaires bear a true testament to this, as Titanic billionaires did some 100 years ago. Sad ending for those folks.
