SLAVE TRADE IN AFRICA
The slave trade in Africa refers to the transatlantic trade of African slaves during the 16th to the 19th century. It was the largest forced migration in history, with an estimated 12.5 million Africans being shipped to the Americas, Europe, and other parts of the world by European slave traders.
Despite being led by European slave traders, it is important to note that some Africans played a role in the slave trade, as they sold slaves to European traders in exchange for gold, and other valuable goods. However, this should not overshadow the impact of the slave trade on the African people.
I would like to focus on the role Africans played in the slave trade.
I do blame Africa for the major part of slave trading, because the biggest form of letting anyone down is selling yourself.
No matter how the Europeans needed money or resources, they came to Africa to trade-off Africans, but you'd never hear about them trading their own flesh and blood.
If you look at it, you can't buy goods if no one is willing to sell.
So, my point and opinion is: As much as we blame the Europeans for this shameful and tragic event that happened in human history and even had or still has lasting effects on Africans. We get to be blamed as much, if not more than the Europeans.
We could've done better trying to generate income through different means, other than selling our own people.
