This photograph, colourised by @royston.leonard, was taken a 105 years ago during initial phase of the Operation Michael of the German Spring Offensive in March 1918.

March 26, 1918 marked the beginning of the phase of the Operation Michael known as the Battle of Rosières, during which the Germans occupied the town of Roye, pictured on this photograph.

The town of Roye was recaptured by the French Army on August 27, 1918 during the Allied Hundred Days Offensive, staying in French possession until the end of the war.
